Jerome here - Upcoming Tidal Wave

Hey, Reader, it's Jerome -

Facing a music tidal wave

As I dive deeper into industry forecasts, it's mind-blowing to think we're heading towards a world with 100 million songs released each year by 2028.

That breaks down to about 275,000 songs every single day! In this overwhelming ocean of tunes, there’s a burning question we all face:

How do we make sure our music stands out? Not just add to the noise.

Building a community and connecting with our audience is probably going to be crucial. But more than that, I believe the stories we weave into our music will be the real game-changer.

I'm convinced we're on the brink of a major media transformation in how music is shared and experienced. I've got a few thoughts on what this could look like – maybe it's about blending virtual reality with live performances, or perhaps it's about creating more interactive music experiences.

Honestly, I feel like we're just scratching the surface.

So, who's ready to dive into this revolution and explore the next big thing in music & media with me?

Best,
Jerome

"Love Bomb by Brooke"

Got on this one last minute. The producer initially mixed the record but wasn’t happy with how it turned out.

So about three weeks ago he asked if I could get the mix done in 3 days.

The thing here was the artist approved the final already.

So the bulk of the work was: 1. to stay close to the original mix the producer had done. 2. fix the problems I could hear in his mix. 3. add my mixing touch.

Even if in the end, we had a big difference between the two mixes.
Everything the artist loved in the OG mix, was still there.

"The Last Day Of December" by Harley Eblen

Released on the first day of December ... It's always a pleasure to work with Harley! He always brings a lot of emotion into the orchestrations he puts together. We have done a few records so far together. But this is his first release for his project. I am looking forward to the next one!

Hey, Reader, it's Jerome - ↓ Language & Mixing We don't often think about it, but the language of the lyrics influences how I mix a song.Let me explain. The lead vocal is one of the most important elements in a song. But, our perception of different languages changes --Each has unique characteristics. I learned early on that different languages have different intelligibility criteria.Let's take a cliché: the French are loud. What's behind this is that the French language needs a higher volume to...

Hey, Reader, it's Jerome - ↓ Blake's Vault The conversation around artists’ revenue has been going on for over a decade. The last few weeks were not left apart. James Blake took the hot seat, believing he has the solution. Introducing Vault, a subscription-based app to access the artist’s unreleased music. But wait. Haven’t platforms like Patreon been offering a similar model for years? Yet, this is not going to save music. Behind the curtain, Vault is another initiative of Sound.XYZ, mainly...

Hey, Reader, it's Jerome - ↓ AI on the front wall of UMG Deep fakes threaten artists' successes, and AI stands prominently at UMG's forefront. Seems like we've been warned about a lot of what’s been happening lately. And of course, we're only starting to measure against growing AIs. To cite a few: The Taylor Deep Fake saga raging on X UMG's new marketing strategy heavily involves AI tools Majors & Governments passing laws against AI-generated music We could continue with these examples, but I...
